Chef Remy serves wonderful dishes at the restaurant on the GF, and they’re working toward a farm-to-table concept. I saw them picking herbs in the garden and the Chef tilling the vegetable patch in the afternoons. When you’re in Najac, check out both the hotel and restaurant. Hotel l’Oustal del Barry has nice rooms, a convenient location, and efficient, helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are very clean, with large, comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms.

We loved our three-night stay. The renovation was recent, though a little more work is still needed in some rooms. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, especially with us as non-French speakers. We were there very early in the season, so most local restaurants were closed for dinner, but we ate at the hotel and the food was exceptional.

After walking all day, we were looking for dinner on a cold Monday evening when everywhere was closed. The hotel had been damaged by flooding in a storm, and its electricity had only just been partly restored. The owner understood our situation and put together a lovely picnic hamper with cassoulet, bread, wine, and crème brûlée to warm us up, using what the chef had in the fridge. With owners like this, the hotel deserves to succeed!
