Hotel De Guise

Our room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a lovely old building on a quiet side street, just off a lively part of the old city with lots of cafes and restaurants.

The free water on the ground floor was a nice touch, and the staff were friendly. Our room, 327, was very small and had a strong, unpleasant smell. The shower head was moldy, which I found disgusting. There’s no lift because it’s an old building. The light switch was old and sometimes sparked when clicked. We told the staff and hope they’ll deal with it.

The location was handy for restaurants and public transportation, and breakfast had all the food we needed. Our room was quiet and romantic, with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The air-conditioning was so quiet we couldn’t hear it. Adam checked us in and made us feel welcome, with directions to the main attractions and dinner suggestions. He was especially helpful, and Vincent, Nathan, and Manon were kind and full of information too. The exterior doesn’t prepare you for how beautiful it is inside. The staff made our stay really special. Thank you for a memorable visit.

Getting around became easier once we noticed the city's wayfinding signs. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Nancy's shops, restaurants, bars, and historic sights. There’s no parking on site, but a paid parking lot is a block or two away. Staff were friendly, and after your initial check-in you can use the keypad to enter at 9 pm. The room was generally clean, and soap was provided. I did notice what looked like mold residue along the shower seams, though it was a minor issue for a short stay. The building is old, and a little scraping and fresh sealant might sort it out. We skipped breakfast because the price seemed far too high for what was served. With stairs everywhere and no elevator, it won’t work for anyone using a wheelchair or needing other accessibility accommodations.
