Breakfast had lots of options, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Our privilege room had a wonderfully comfortable, exceptionally large double bed, and the air conditioning made for a good night's sleep. The hotel is well placed for the railway station, Place Stanislas, and other sights. We'll definitely stay at the Mercure again next time we're in town.

The location was the main reason we chose this hotel. It's very affordable and probably the best placed option in Nancy for the historic centre, just steps from the main plaza, bars, and restaurants. Breakfast was nicely presented, with a good range of quality food and lots of tea. The mattress was excellent too, and I got a full night's rest. The room itself was quite compact. Standard rooms are in an annex reached by a corridor and extra steps, which could be a hassle with lots of luggage or a buggy. Parking is on site for €15 a day. Still, it was a very good stay.

We were upgraded to a spacious room on the third floor, and the double doors and windows kept the sound out well. The bed was comfortable, and reception was friendly and efficient. The hotel's close to Place Stanislas, and the parking behind it was convenient, though it could use fresh paint. The stairs between the ground and first floors were quite worn. The air conditioning smelled strongly of rot and mold. We had to switch it off, open the windows, and put up with the noise, heat, and mosquitoes on a summer night. It urgently needs cleaning and decontamination.

It was clean and close to Place Stanislas, but the standard room was extremely small. If you're tall or on the larger side, I'd look at other options. We had a dog, and with the €30 per night dog charge, the tiny room felt like very poor value. There's no gym, which seems odd for a hotel claiming four stars, and there isn't enough room to exercise in the room either.
