We’ve stayed at the Gites Castel de Cantobre several times, and every visit has been a pleasure. Peggy and Lionel are always warm and helpful, no matter when you arrive. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and spotless, with everything you need. Cantobre makes a great base for exploring this unspoiled part of France.

We first stayed here in 2018, then came back after the Covid restrictions, for Christmas and New Year 2022. Lionel and Peggy are wonderful hosts. The rooms are lovely, and the views are amazing.

We spent a week in L’Egyptien at the start of August, and it was such a comfortable place to stay. The gîte is spacious, cozy, thoughtfully arranged and very well equipped. Built into the rock, the house stays pleasantly cool in summer without air conditioning. From the terrace, the view over the Dourbie gorges is breathtaking; a short climb takes you to a garden with a wonderful 360-degree panorama. Nant is close by, with lots of life and some excellent shops, and the location makes it easy to visit the Grands Causses and nearby gorges. Our hosts were warm, professional and attentive throughout. An exceptional gîte!

It’s magnificent, perched high on a rocky outcrop, though getting there can be difficult if you have mobility issues. The owner will leave your car at the bottom and bring your luggage up in his car.

It’s a special place, particularly when there aren’t other visitors around. At the busy end, there may be just two busloads of people. Definitely worth a visit.
