Everything was very clean, and the apartment was quiet at night and well equipped. It’s also close to the castle, with a supermarket and a really good bakery only a few meters away. The woman at reception, Bruna, was the best part. She was so nice and helpful, always smiling. Thanks for all your hard work! I totally recommend this place :)
The room setup is the best part. There’s a microwave, stove and cutlery, so you can make basic meals and feel like you’re living in Nantes for a few days. The bathroom was roomy and clean, though somehow there was water on the floor. The bed was uncomfortable, even if the heating worked perfectly and we had no trouble with hot water. Service was a mixed bag. The receptionist we spoke to was lovely and helpful, and her English saved us a lot of confusion. They also stored our luggage when we arrived early, since early check-in depends on availability. Beyond that, don’t expect much. The location is fine, nothing special. Breakfast was the real letdown. There were croissants, madeleines, one kind of sourdough, butter, ham and cheese, plus scrambled eggs that didn’t look very scrambled. The “boiled” eggs had to be boiled by guests, and at one point it felt like we were working in the kitchen. No toaster, and finding salt and pepper meant a little treasure hunt. Sugar was set out neatly on the tables, while the coffee and orange juice were just there, nothing to get excited about. I’d skip breakfast and save the money. The room has what you need to make your own, or you can pick up eggs and vegetables at a nearby supermarket. I probably wouldn’t stay again, though I might recommend it with conditions. It’s good for the room setup, less so if you’re counting on the service or breakfast.
I was here for a work trip, paying around 130 per night, which felt overpriced. During summer weather of 38 degrees, there was no air conditioning. The small room had uncomfortable beds, breakfast had very few options and wasn’t good, and the first floor was damp and smelled bad.
The price felt way too high for the stay. The rooms could use renovation, and the service wasn’t very friendly even though we spoke French. Dogs are allowed for an extra fee, but they didn’t seem especially welcome.
We were mostly fine with the hotel until two staff members knocked at 9:30 on a Friday morning and asked to come into our room “pour compter le linge,” to count the towels and linen. We weren’t ready, and my wife was still in her pyjamas. It felt like a complete invasion of our privacy. They handled the bed linen and looked around the room as if they were searching for something or were police. I wish I’d asked for IDs or called reception before letting them in. We were barely awake, and the whole thing was so strange and unnecessary. I’m French and British, so this wasn’t a language issue. I can’t imagine how someone who didn’t speak French would have dealt with it. We decided not to use this hotel group again and waited more than a month to write this. The hotel replied to my husband, but we can’t accept their excuses for the privacy intrusion. They said a notice had been posted in the lift, but we never saw one saying staff could enter rooms to check or count towels at any time. Guests carrying heavy suitcases aren’t likely to read every notice in a lift. Posting something there doesn’t make it reasonable for staff to enter a guest’s room whenever they want. They should tell customers face to face at check-in. We needed a card to access the lift, and our cards failed several times during our four-night stay, so we had to go back to reception to get them fixed. With those problems, how could every guest be expected to read a lift notice? The hotel’s messages made us more upset and disappointed. They said the two staff members were the hotel director and reception manager, there to count a towel. Neither showed an ID or staff card, or told us who they were. I asked a friend who works for an international hotel brand about it, and she said this Nantes hotel had made a serious mistake. Once a guest has rented a room, staff shouldn’t enter it unless they’re cleaning or there’s an emergency. We had put up a DO NOT DISTURB sign, but the two staff members still knocked and came in. As hotel director and reception manager, they should know the rules better than junior staff. We can’t accept these excuses and won’t stay with this hotel brand again. Not recommended.
