Our host was kind and helpful, and we especially enjoyed the delicious homemade foie gras. The room was spacious, quiet and beautifully decorated, looking out over the lit pool and olive tree. On a sunny day we enjoyed swimming, and it felt like a complete change of scenery. We'd be happy to come back.

In October, I was so pleased with my stay at Victoria's. The food was healthy, and I loved her homemade yogurts and foie gras. She was thoughtful and caring throughout. After my walks along the Erdre River, it was always a lovely surprise to see Victoria and her partner in the evening.

Victoria was wonderfully attentive and made sure we had what we needed. Our room was lovely, just as shown in the pictures, in a quiet spot beside a good-sized pool. The place has clearly been designed with care and deserves to be appreciated. Getting around was easy: we bought a 48-hour pass at the Tourist Office and took the TAN (Nantes public transport network) from the Beaujoire park-and-ride. Nantes has so many beautiful sights. It's a beautiful place, but I found the owner inhospitable. If you eat there, you're expected to take your rubbish with you, though there was no sign saying you couldn't leave it. I was also asked to take away the newspaper I'd read, which I'd never experienced before. I find the extra 2 euros for fruit with breakfast, or 10 euros a day for a fan, unacceptable.

The welcome was terrible. We couldn't use the pool, although there hadn't been any problem with it when we booked. We couldn't even get a glass of milk outside because the glass table might be damaged. The service was nowhere near good enough.
