Château de La prade

If you're booking through Wonderbox, be careful. I wouldn't recommend making a reservation with them.

The shower was awkward to use, with its hose only a meter long, and the place itself felt run-down and very unhygienic. We were hit by a strong damp smell as soon as we opened the door and didn't even feel like taking off our coats and shoes. Heating we'd asked about was absent, and the owner's response to that request didn't seem very honest. We booked the castle house through Booking.com. In the pitch dark on arrival, we couldn't work out where to go. After a few problems with the owner, we eventually found the key, almost like a Fort Boyard challenge. The whole thing was such a disappointment. The word "castle" was about the only thing that sounded appealing, and the unpleasant smell is what we'll remember on the way home. ✌️

After more than two hours outside in the cold, late at night, we had to find somewhere else to stay in an unfamiliar place. The owner hadn't answered our messages or confirmations before we arrived, and gave us no useful information. That evening, we tried to reach them repeatedly, but got no response or explanation, call, or warning about a delay or problem. We'd booked the accommodation for one night, and the experience became a nightmare. This lack of communication and responsibility was stressful and could have been avoided. I found the behavior disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I strongly advise against staying here. There are plenty of dependable places where you won't lose your time and sleep.

There are lovely natural surroundings here, and the building itself has a special charm. The access road could be in better shape, though. Rooms are spacious, but the furnishings are basic, and the lighting isn't enough for reading or working at night. Staff contact is limited, and there's no room cleaning during the stay, which we missed. The grounds and building could also use better upkeep and cleaning. It's a beautiful place with a lot of potential in its architecture and setting, but there are several things to improve for a more complete stay.
