ibis Narbonne

The staff are lovely and helpful, and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. The famous buffet is an easy 12-minute walk, there’s a nice supermarket across the road, and Narbonne is about a 30-minute walk away. I’d definitely come back.

We had a good two-night stay, and the team were very friendly with our dog Rose. They even gave her a welcome gift, which we appreciated. The room had everything we needed, though it was a little small and had the older Ibis design. Loved having a Nespresso machine and kettle, and the shower was perfect. Breakfast was the usual high standard you expect from Ibis.

Breakfast was adequate, but the fruit we got was so underripe it was completely inedible. The hotel is well placed for a quick drive to the highway, and the Ibis staff did help us during our stay, but we won’t repeat the experience. We had a rather small room for two, where our two-year-old was allowed to sleep because we couldn’t find another hotel nearby at the time. The bathroom worked but had no ventilation. The room’s ventilation also seemed old, and even though it had been running since we arrived, the air never felt fresh. The room felt more like what we’d experienced at an Ibis Budget than an Ibis. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful during check-in. But when we tried to order a few refreshments at the bar or restaurant, we didn’t get the same feeling. We’d had a tiring drive that day, and that kind of interaction didn’t help us feel rested.

The service was great, and everyone was very friendly. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, with fresh croissants and good coffee in a typical French style, like at a Novotel. We were impressed. Our room was small and had the no-frills Ibis style, but the 1960s building has an original design and its own charm. Good value for money, and we had a good time.
