The beds were just right, and we really enjoyed the straightforward cooking, made with carefully chosen, excellent ingredients. The owners made the stay special too. They’re lovely, welcoming people with interesting things to say and a good sense of humor. Staying at the hotel and eating at the restaurant was a real pleasure.

The comfortable bed and fairly modern room decor were the few bright spots. The rooms differ a lot in size, but each has a dated, awkward bathroom. The toilet paper holder was on the wall across from the toilet, so you had to get up to reach it. Other things looked like work had begun and then stopped, including missing baseboards and unfinished hallway flooring. We came for a wedding anniversary nearby, but after a big night out and just four hours of sleep, we still had to check out by 10:00 AM. Breakfast only runs until 9:30 AM, with no flexibility. The manager was unpleasant and rigid, even pointing out the bakery so we wouldn’t starve on the sidewalk. Those four hours of sleep cost us dearly. Avoid this place if you want a warm, understanding welcome.

The food was incredible and the quality impeccable. We were welcomed so warmly, and the rooms felt like great value for the price. Really hope we’re back in the area soon 😊😊

I never expected to leave a bad review, but this crossed the line. What upset me most was the way I was spoken to on the phone, if that can even be called a welcome. I found the whole experience deeply off-putting. My booking email said to let the hotel know if we’d arrive after 9:30 p.m. We expected to be a little early, but after more than 500 km and road delays, the GPS showed 10:00 p.m. I called around 8:30 p.m. to say we’d be 30 minutes late. A woman at reception curtly said they didn’t take anyone after 9:30 p.m. and told us to find another hotel. I couldn’t understand it, since the email asked us to notify them of a late arrival and never said the reservation would be canceled. Finding somewhere else at short notice was difficult, but she wouldn’t discuss it. I had to book an emergency room from a motorway service station, at a very high rate and far from our route. Then I noticed the booking had been charged to my account, even though payment was supposed to be at the hotel. I contacted them to see if we could arrange something, since they had canceled the reservation, but they wouldn’t hear of it. Their only reply was that they had waited until 10:30 p.m., despite having told us not to come after 9:30 p.m. To me, that’s simply theft. Hospitality is a fine profession, and if you can’t do the job, you should leave room for others.
