Hotel Maillot

The staff were very kind, and the location is really convenient, near Metro line 1, which goes straight across Paris. For Paris, where affordable hotels are hard to find, I thought the price was good, even though I usually stay somewhere cheaper. The room was good and bigger than the one I had on my last trip to Paris. The hotel itself is old, but the room had a small bathroom instead of a shower beside the bed. The bed could have been more comfortable.

Charles made a fantastic first impression. I arrived at 11:30am after a red-eye, not expecting a room to be ready, but he made it work and brought out complimentary coffee and croissants when he realized I was hungry. He really looks after you, almost like you’re staying at a B&B, and I appreciated that a lot. The hotel is a safe, short five-minute walk from Le Palais de Congres, where my four-day conference was held, and it’s near a Metro stop for getting around the city. The rooms are simple but have the basics you need for a business trip, including a comfortable bed. For an expensive city like Paris, it’s very good value.

I still remember Charles, the friendly host, from my five-night stay in December 2011. The room was simple, but the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. There’s a Metro stop nearby for getting around the city. This would be my first choice when I next visit Paris.

It’s an inexpensive place in Paris, but the bathroom is too small and uncomfortable. Towels are changed every day even though a sticker says they’ll only be replaced if left on the floor. They throw away the soap each day too. That’s not good for the environment.
