Jehan and Mariana de l'Allier were very welcoming. We spent a week in the two-bedroom apartment and loved the quiet and the place's natural, unpolished beauty. It really feels like a hidden gem.

The owner has put real care into bringing the Château de Saint-Augustin back to life while respecting its history and traditions. His vision and commitment to looking after the estate are impressive, and the place feels welcoming as well as historic, with modern life fitting alongside its older character. Set in a beautiful landscape, the château is an architectural gem. Its stately appearance and enduring charm are captivating, and the carefully preserved details make its rich heritage feel present in every stone.

The tour was over in 20 minutes. It only covered the stables, chapel, dining room, and office, which felt like very little for 9 euros per person, especially since they only take cash. At least children get in free. When we arrived to visit the castle, a huge pile of garbage made a bad first impression. Then, as we parked, two dogs jumped on us. Nobody was there to greet us or keep them back, even though we had two young children with us. Inside, the castle smelled like wet dog mixed with sweat. This was truly the worst castle we've ever visited, and the value for money was really poor.
