I came back to this region and hotel with my wife, and the walks and unhurried country pace still do my soul good. It’s a lovely family kind of place, especially for someone traveling alone. We stayed three nights on my previous visit. The rooms were clean and modern, a surprise behind the plain-looking front. The food was a highlight too. I got to watch the chef and his fluent niece or daughter making beef bourgonie (I’m not sure of the spelling), and I love anything cooked with cognac. The cooking was immaculate, with real care for hygiene, and dinner was great. I especially want to return for the homemade pate and foie de gras. This was my first Google review. The charming receptionist-manager spoke excellent English, which she’d learned in NZ, and convinced me that sharing feedback online would be useful.

The food used to be excellent, and the previous waitress was great at welcoming people and suggesting tastings. We came back yesterday and were very disappointed. The young woman’s welcome and service were cold and deplorable. We asked for things that never made it to the table. There was no sign of local produce, and the plates had no flavor. It feels like a cafeteria now, not a restaurant. The chef in the kitchen used to be excellent too.

The dining room is roomy, with a lovely view around Noiretable, and the owners were welcoming. From outside, though, we were surprised and at first thought the place was closed. We stopped for lunch on a whim while traveling. The Sunday set menu was good overall, with generous portions and a nice choice of hard cheeses. The price may have been a little high for what was included.
