Julien and the concierge team were outstanding, helping us with everything we asked. The hotel is in a beautiful, convenient spot on this lovely island in the Loire, with spacious, nicely furnished rooms. Breakfast was very good and the draft beer was excellent. There were some real comfort and service problems. The air conditioning didn’t work, and the room lighting felt strange and uninviting, which was a shame given its size and furnishings. Service could be extremely slow, and it was surprising that reception closed at 23:00 at a hotel in this price range, where I’d expect 24h reception. We also weren’t told there’d be a concert right outside every night. Some guests might enjoy that, but it can be disruptive in the room or by the pool. A warning, or even a discount, would have been appreciated. It’s a charming hotel in many ways, but those issues need attention for the premium rates.

The room was comfortable, and having a balcony was a nice extra. There’s a pleasant pool area for relaxing, and breakfast had a decent selection of hot and cold dishes. Staff throughout the hotel were generally friendly and pleasant. It’s a high-end luxury hotel near the centre of Noirmoutier, next to the castle. Parking is limited and works on a first come, first served basis, though nearby paid parking is available. I’d recommend it and would return.
