We had lunch for two on the terrace of the medieval building, looking out over the pool and garden. The service was kind and attentive. The food was delicious, including fresh sea bass, and the starters and desserts were just as thoughtfully prepared, with imaginative, well-balanced flavours.

We sat outside on the terrace in the warm March sunshine because the owner is allergic to dogs. The host was very welcoming and speaks good English, which was a relief for us after learning French 50 years ago. The food was nice and the customer service excellent. Plat and dessert cost 28€. The hotel has seven rooms, at about 70€ a night.

Book ahead, and give yourself time for a proper French dinner. We had a table on a lovely shaded terrace, and the staff were very friendly. It took three hours because the restaurant was unusually busy when we visited, but I didn’t mind. The food may honestly have been the best I’ve had at a French restaurant in over ten years. I’d definitely go back.

After a bad experience, we arrived here in a desperate state, and what a lovely surprise. The little family-run restaurant, which also has a hotel, sits in a beautiful and interesting landscape. Its menu mixes traditional dishes with original ideas, and the cooking is excellent for the price. There’s a good wine list with attention to local products. Everyone was very kind and polite. The chef even makes croissants and marmalades for breakfast.
