Only a few ground-floor rooms are open to visitors, and the tours are in French. The library is lovely, as are the other rooms you can see. The restoration has been done very nicely, with great views over the lake. The restaurant next door only opens on weekends.

The château looks beautiful reflected in the lake as you arrive. Inside, visits are guided, and we were lucky to have a very helpful guide who spoke some English. She was excellent and even got permission for us to see some extra rooms upstairs. We especially liked the well-preserved 15th-century chapel and the painted fireplace and bedroom ceilings. It’s good to see an historic building being cared for so well.

Our press weekend for TAG Heuer, held around the nearby Magny-Cours Formula One competition, had a magnificent setting at the Château. The accommodations and service were first rate, matching the magical atmosphere. As our helicopter came from Paris and circled over the château before landing on the grounds, a large pack of hounds was just coming back from the hunt. It felt like something from a James Bond 007 film.

I only went around the park. It was so quiet and peaceful, a lovely spot for a walk and a few photos.
