Le Moulin De Benechou

At departure time, 9:30 a.m., nobody was up and getting the door open was extremely difficult. We’ve never seen anything like this, how does a reputable website end up listing rentals like these? Access to the rooms felt dangerous, with intimidating stairs. The road in is full of potholes and difficult to get through. We got very little welcome, the adult didn’t seem interested in our arrival, and luckily little Marie was there to guide us. Inside, hygiene was extremely poor and there was practically no heating.

The real luxury at Moulin du Benechou is nature, peace, and the sounds around you: leaves in the wind, birds singing, the river flowing, ducks wading, and chickens wandering about. It’s a place to unwind, relax, and feel closer to nature and yourself. You’re welcomed by a family who lives simply but is actually very wealthy in peace, tranquility, and natural beauty. Don’t come expecting grand hotel luxury, trendy room decor, room service, or a whirlpool. You’ll find MUCH BETTER here, and honestly, it’s worth the detour.

The owner is really nice, which is a good thing given the room’s price and poor quality. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in winter. The steep dirt road has lots of bends, and starting off again when it’s freezing in the morning is a real struggle. The room barely had heat, just a small fan heater, and my son was so cold he slept fully dressed. I slept in my van, though parking on the sloping area was a bit of a challenge. I imagine it’s much nicer in summer?!

We had a really pleasant stay, despite what the previous reviews say. The welcome was friendly, the room was clean, and the value for money was excellent. The only drawback was that the room didn’t lock.
