Le Ruesco

We spent six days here in August, and the seaside setting really is lovely: the hotel sits right by the sea with access to a public beach, and the pool was nice too. The service and facilities, though, didn't come close to matching the price of €290 a night, plus €15 for breakfast. Breakfast wasn't included and for €15 it was only a few sweet pastries, yogurt, white toast, butter, and jam. Even tea bags and single-serve instant coffee cost extra, €1 and €2 each. Our room wasn't very clean, and although we specifically asked them to vacuum the dirty floor, it wasn't done. There were no slippers or bathrobes either, which I'd expect at this price. I travel often for work in Paris, Italy, and the UK, and haven't had such poor service at these rates. Beautiful location, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The evening restaurant was quite good: the pizza, steaks, and brochettes were all very nice. But asking for a little salad with the potatoes added €3 for lettuce, which felt needlessly stingy. The breakfast was worse, just bread and butter for €15, an absolute rip-off. Borrowing a towel also costs €2. The place itself is magical, with a pool and direct access to the sea, so most things would have been fine otherwise.

We'd already stayed here once and came back, which says a lot. It's a quiet, discreet little gem on one of the most beautiful beaches, and there's a lovely restaurant right on the sand. We'll return again.

The scenery was breathtaking, and everything felt peaceful and serene. Such a beautiful spot.
