La Buissonnière

Florence was a lovely host, with great suggestions for exploring the region and a wonderful breakfast in the beautiful garden. The hotel is in a charming, peaceful village in the Luberon, well placed for visiting local sights as well as Avignon, St Remy, and Arles. It’s a special place for anyone who likes staying somewhere with character. The building has been carefully restored and decorated beautifully, mixing design pieces with the house’s traditional features.

In the secluded village of Oppède-le-Vieux, Florence is a wonderful host at this small «maison d'hôte». She does her best to offer advice and make your time in Provence memorable.

We’d happily stay again, 10/10. I’ve missed the cherry juice with breakfast every morning since we got home. The advance booking website was an unexpected but really useful guide to local restaurants, activities, and attractions. Florence was the highlight, somehow being hostess, historian, architect, day planner, and excellent company all at once. We spent most of a week with her during our first trip to southern France, and it was exceptional. Oppede is picturesque and full of charm, with great food and fascinating history; La Buissonniere made it easy to feel immersed in the region. Our room stayed comfortable even in summer heat. Breakfast brought fresh fruit and preserves, yogurt, local juices and fermented drinks, coffee, plus pastries and bread from a fantastic local bakery. That bakery isn't much of a local secret anymore, though I won't give it away!

Oppède le Vieux has become my favorite place in Provence: peaceful, full of unique history, surrounded by gardens, and beautiful in an almost ethereal way. I’ve stayed at La Buissonnière twice, and both visits have felt wonderfully serene. Florence cares about how her guests are doing and makes delicious breakfasts. The inn’s gorgeous furniture and thoughtful decor make a big impression. The bedrooms are roomy, bright, airy, and comfortable, and the top-floor sunroom is a special spot for watching both sunrise and sunset. I can't wait to return.
