We ended up here for a weekend ski trip after our sailing on the coast was cancelled, and it turned out to be a real gem. The hotel looks a little tired, but it's very comfortable and only a 3-4 minute walk from the piste. The host gave us excellent service. Breakfast was superb and nicely laid out, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented at incredibly reasonable prices. We hadn't known the area and picked the place by chance. We arrived at midnight, but the owner had made access easy and arranged parking outside. It was snowing heavily, and in the morning he took out the mini digger to clear the entire road out front. Definitely somewhere to consider. A five-star experience all round.

The owners gave us such a warm welcome, and I’m grateful to them. This is a clean, welcoming mountain hotel with authentic hospitality and personality, nothing like the impersonal hotel chains around today. I enjoyed our morning chats, and hope the next hockey tournament is held in Orcieres.

We stopped here for a meal with two families while passing through Orcières Merlette on a week of skiing. We were hoping for something authentic and the homemade food, made with local produce, was a lovely surprise. The old sheepfold makes a cozy restaurant, and the service was friendly. We had a great time and hope to come back.

I’m from North Africa, and I didn’t experience any racist behavior or comments from either the gentleman or the lady. He welcomed us warmly, and my wife was pleased with how well the place is kept. The room was clean, and breakfast was generous. I’d come back because everything was spotless. People should show some respect for those working hard to look after guests. Those nasty accusations are gratuitous and pointless.

The homemade food is good quality, and the hotel restaurant still has a family feel. The room itself is basic, but everything works. It’s a friendly place with a lot going for it.
