Auberge de Jeunesse Orléans Centre Ville - Hostel

The staff were so lovely. Thanks for looking after our bicycles and doing our laundry!

The rooms were very clean, and I liked having a private bathroom that was clean too. My private room was noisy enough that I could hear everything next door, including my neighbors snoozing their alarm three times between 6:30 and 7 in the morning. 😛 The staff were friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. Breakfast is free and served with a smile, but it's all sweet, with no ham or cheese, so as someone without a sweet tooth I couldn't find anything to eat. Maybe that's normal in France. The Wi-Fi only works in the common rooms, and the location is good, within walking distance of town.

At €39, I expected something closer to a hotel and came away disappointed. You have to put the blankets on the bed yourself, the beds are smaller, there's no TV, and the rooms don't look very comfortable. Places like F1 offer something similar, while other auberges usually charge a more reasonable €20. The location is good, and breakfast is included, but the price doesn't feel justified.

The location was nice, and that's the only reason I'm giving it a star. The place is expensive, yet the Wi-Fi signal was poor everywhere in the building. Breakfast was simple and okay, but someone had to hand it to you, and she didn't speak English. I couldn't manage to explain what I wanted, so I didn't get the breakfast I was hoping for. Staff also came in quite early to clean the room every day, even though I was the only one staying there.
