Demeures & Chateaux Le Relais des Landes

Our cabin was comfortable, quiet, and private. Most rooms are in the main building, but there are also several modern individual cabins around the grounds. The gardens are pretty, and the hotel sits out in the countryside. The restaurant was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They can get very busy when a large bike tour group arrives, which they said happens every Sunday night. Our bar order was forgotten, but that was the only downside of our visit.

The restaurant food was good, though the service had plenty of problems, and the ceiling above us looked almost disgusting to eat under and needs replacing urgently. Our room was clean and good, but it was small for the high price, so I don’t think it was worth the money. The mirror was broken too. They made a point of saying they would charge us if we were late checking out, which didn’t feel very welcoming. When we asked for wine glasses, they didn’t seem pleased about it. There were nice things about the stay, so I wouldn’t call it completely bad, but I won’t return.

Surrounded by beautifully kept nature, this is a calm, cozy place that feels far removed from the rush of everyday life. People who work in a busy city every day will love the peace and chance to relax here. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was the highlight for me, especially the tasting menu, which I strongly recommend. The service was also lovely, and the place itself is a real treat, with a beautiful structure and thoughtful attention to detail. A great stopover.
