B&B HOTEL Ouistreham

The rooms have plenty of space, and the hotel was warm and clean. One thing to watch: if you checked in online, your access code may not work. That’s especially frustrating outside in the cold and dark after stepping off the ferry, though thankfully the helpline does work.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages as well as pastries, cheese, yoghurt, cereal and bread. It’s a clean, comfortable place for us to stop near the port, and the reception staff gave us a lovely welcome in the morning. We’d happily stay again and recommend it. Our only small gripe is that there was one pillow each, while we prefer two, though of course that won’t matter to everyone.

We stayed here after arriving from Portsmouth and again before our morning crossing back. The ferry terminal is only a short drive away, and advance check-in was easy, with a six-digit code for room access. The room itself was basic, with a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom. Breakfast had a superb range and started at 0630, so we could eat before our 0830 sailing. The car park looked secure and was well lit, and we felt fine leaving our bikes on the roof rack overnight. I’d recommend it.

We found everything easy, from booking through to departure. The room was larger than we expected, clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with lots of seating, and the friendly staff and lift made the stay easier. We’d recommend it.
