Le Domaine des Grands Lacs-TwoBedroom Apartment

I regret booking here at such an exorbitant price. It was the worst experience I’ve had. As we drove toward the property, we entered a cloud of smoke from a nearby fire. Staying didn’t seem safe, so I still went to reception and spoke to the staff. They said they couldn’t cancel the reservation or change the dates there, and gave me a phone number that wasn’t available until two days later and was no help. I then got an after-service email address. The reply said, “The order to evacuate the residence and the sites nearby was never given” and “I cannot offer any compensation.” There was a fire very close by, and the whole area was so smoky you couldn’t see the sun and it was unbearable to breathe. Their own staff were scared. I wasn’t offered any option, and they kept the full, very expensive amount for a service they never provided, without caring about the safety of clients or staff. The difficult communication was exhausting. It felt like making money mattered more than providing anything. I can only advise people to stay away. Just read the reviews across the booking platforms. I also regret booking directly through their site, since now I can’t leave a review on booking.

We had a great time with the kids. It’s a very nice place, with lake access and the city within walking distance. The Atlantic is 20 minutes away. The prices don’t quite match the quality, though it feels like a minor issue when everything is getting more expensive.

We stopped for one night on the way from London to Madrid. The place was clean and felt really safe, the staff were brilliant and very friendly, and the restaurant served tasty, wholesome food at a great price. Worth coming back.

The location is immense, and the rooms were lovely.
