Les Cottages Du Lac

It was very quiet in October, and our basic, clean accommodation had a veranda overlooking the lake. Watching the sun go down with a glass of wine was so relaxing. Brilliant location.

The lake view was superb, and the deck was lovely and peaceful. We weren’t so keen on the rats living underneath it, but I guess that’s nature! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was good. For our organisation, Club la Costa, the accommodation was comfortable but basic. It was reasonably equipped, with comfy beds, an excellent shower, and plenty of hot water.

We had a wonderful week as a family, staying in adjacent lodges so we could spend plenty of time together. The accommodation was clean, bright, and worked well for sharing meals, though there’s no oven. We hired electric grills for barbecuing at a very reasonable price. The pool, restaurant, and other facilities got popular and crowded at busy times, but the beach is easy to reach and has plenty of room to explore. Around Biscarrosse, there’s a brilliant ropes course for ages 6 to 14, and adults too, plus go-karting. The Dune du Pilat was a highlight. I’d go on a cool day since it’s very exposed to the sun and onshore breezes. The local supermarkets are open Sunday mornings until 14.00hrs. The Thursday morning market in Parentis is great and well worth a visit. Enjoy your stay!

The lake is close and the pools are great, with deep and shallow areas for different ages. The cottages are fine, though I wouldn’t call them exceptional. One big downside is that you can’t have food or drinks by the pool, so you have to leave and cut your pool day short. I understand banning glass, but drinks in plastic bottles or cups and simple snacks like crisps, ice creams, or sandwiches would be brilliant. At the moment, nothing is allowed. For the price, I also expected better service. We had to make our own beds and the cottage rules say we have to clean everything before leaving. That shouldn’t be expected at this price. And just a heads up, it’s a LONG way from Calais. I didn’t realise when I booked, and the drive with two small children wasn’t fun.
