Amiral Hôtel

Breakfast was perfectly decent, and during my visit the small breakfast area wasn't a problem. I could imagine it getting crowded if the hotel were full, though. I'd seen the mixed reviews before booking, but I didn't want to spend too much on a Paris hotel again and needed a place in the 13th, so I took a chance. It worked out well. The rooms, service, and location aren't top notch, but the value for the price in Paris felt like more than 4.5 stars, which is why I gave it five.

The pool was warm, and the rooms were clean with daily room service. It seemed like good value for money, but we had ants and I found a silverfish. The room key also stopped working every single day, which got extremely annoying and frustrating.

We were there over the Easter holiday as three families travelling with two babies. Our room and bathroom were very nice, and breakfast was amazing. The location worked well for the metro and for the nearby bars and drink locals. Reception is open around the clock, which was handy for anyone getting back to the hotel at night.

The pool was okay, and we did have some fun there. The rest of the stay was very bad. The rooms were cold, the carpet was discolored and looked about 20 years old, and there was mold in the bathrooms and behind the curtains. Breakfast was very poor, and even though it was included in our booking price, we had to pay for it again at reception. The staff acted as if they were presidents and customers were slaves. The hotel presents itself as four stars, but in my view it didn't deserve even two. Two months earlier I'd stayed at a three-star hotel in Paris that was twice as nice. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
