From the upper floors, Paris stretches out below you in a breathtaking view of rooftops, landmarks, and everyday city life. That moment of wonder made the Centre Pompidou feel like a place to experience art, not just look at it. Before its temporary closure for renovation, it was one of my most memorable and joyful cultural visits in Paris. The atmosphere felt alive, with fun events, live music, and spectacular performances breaking away from the usual museum feel. Each floor had its own artistic world, and the bold, playful curation invited you to explore modern and contemporary works freely. The roller disco was an unforgettable highlight, bringing movement, sound, and art together in a way that captured the Centre Pompidou’s experimental spirit. Even getting up to the higher floors was rewarding. It felt like a creative playground where art, music, and people came together.

I had a private tour of the Paris Noir exhibit and loved it. The museum is lovely, and you could easily spend over an hour walking around. Afterward, head to the rooftop restaurant for amazing city views.

I couldn't see the museum's exhibits, but the hall and the atmosphere outside gave me a lovely new memory. The outside escalators were thrilling, with wonderful views of Paris, almost like a trip to the future. I visited Paris last June, and seeing the magnificent Centre Pompidou before its renovation, due in 2030, had been on my bucket list.

The Centre Pompidou is closed for renovation, but there's still an impressive exhibition about the Centre's history and the renovation itself. You can even send a postcard from the exhibition for free.

The upper-floor views are great, and the building feels like modern art before you even go inside. Its exposed pipes, ducts, and other backstage features make a striking design statement. It looks a little like a refinery with a library and art gallery inside. It won't be everyone's taste, but it definitely isn't boring.
