Apartment WS Montmartre - Abesses

Works well for younger travellers. I wouldn’t recommend it to older ones.

The location is good, with shops nearby. In this cold weather, though, the heater doesn’t provide enough warmth.

We booked an apartment advertised with a living room, sofa, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a view. Instead, after coming through a glass door, we found a bed in the middle of the living room beside a kitchenette, with no sofa, plus one separate bedroom. So there was only one bedroom, and no sofa. There wasn’t a view either. The room had no windows, just the entrance glass door, and the curtains didn’t cover it properly, so people walking past could see us sleeping. We complained for days about having no hot water, but it never came. We had to shower in cold water when it was 0°C in Paris. On the first day, we went to the corner store and returned to find the door wouldn’t work. The hotel offered no solution and kept hanging up on us. Booking.com didn’t help either. Four of us ended up sleeping outside in freezing rain. The apartment owner, Booking.com, and the authorities were all unable to offer a solution. With no battery power, money, or identification, we couldn’t rent another room, so the street was our only option.

For a few days in Paris, this place was fine, especially for a reasonable budget. We were four and didn’t have big expectations. The furnishings were minimalist but well appointed, and the beds were excellent. The bathroom was clean, though the shower was small. The kitchen had a fridge, but it was small and we didn’t use it.
