Hôtel Apollon Montparnasse

We really liked staying away from the touristy areas in Montparnasse, while still being able to walk or take the train to all the sights. It was our first time in the area, and I recommend it. The rooms at Hotel Apollon Montparnasse were small, but completely fine for two adults with weekender bags. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jean, who helped us each day. We had a great stay!

The night staff were great, and the hotel is in a great spot for a weekend base close to the centre of Paris. Rooms are very small, but they have a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, which is all we needed. The nearest metro line also goes to the Eiffel Tower and other attractions.

I was terrified after the night manager came into my room without knocking or announcing himself, even though I’d locked it from inside. When I confronted him, he shockingly said, “I can enter whenever I want. There’s no law against it.” I pushed the desk against the door and kept it there for the rest of the night just to feel somewhat secure. I tried to cancel the rest of my stay, but the hotel refused to refund me despite this clear violation of my privacy and safety. This was one of the most disturbing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. If feeling safe and respected matters to you, I strongly advise against staying here.

The breakfast was simple, served downstairs in the basement, and there wasn’t much to choose from beyond the really good bread. Still, the croissant was fresh and tasty, the baguette was amazing, and the coffee was good. I stayed two nights during a very hot spell in Paris. The room was small and dark, looking onto a backyard, but that kept it cool enough and the AC worked well. The shower had good pressure, too. I booked fairly late in tourist season, so the price wasn’t cheap, though it was among the more affordable options in a good, fairly central area. The neighborhood was fine, just not one of Paris’s prettiest.
