Apostrophe Hotel

The bed was unbelievably hard, like concrete, and my neck and shoulders hurt so much I got no sleep. This was the hardest of the four hotels we've stayed at in France. We didn't ask whether mattress toppers were available, since we weren't sure they could store them. I do wonder if French people all sleep on their backs. The showers were great, with strong pressure that rinsed conditioner out easily, and the bath was nice after a day around the city. Staff were attentive, and they removed the two decorative pillows we didn't like when cleaning. There was always someone at the desk whenever we came or went.

I really appreciated how clean everything was, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The neighborhood felt beautiful and safe, which was a real plus. On my last day they kept my suitcase secure so I could explore before my train left. For the price, the service and overall value were excellent. I'd definitely recommend it as an affordable place to stay.

The staff we met were all lovely and really helpful, easily five stars. I stayed in the top-floor 'homme' room. It was clean and quiet, with a bath that had bubble jets and a view of the Effiel tower. The hotel is near the metro too. One thing to bear in mind: a fairly steep spiral staircase starts just to the right of the room entrance, so getting to the room may not suit someone with mobility issues or unsteady footing.

We were there for six nights during the Olympic Games, and the price felt reasonable for such a good location. The hotel is a block from the Vavin Metro stop. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the themed boutique rooms have a lot of character. A nice part of the routine is picking up your key when you arrive and leaving it at the desk when you go out. It means you don't have to worry about losing it, and you get to chat with the staff. They were helpful with directions, places to see, restaurants and general tips about the area. We especially liked talking with Gino in the evenings, and the morning and evening staff were always friendly. My wife and I think this place is a hidden gem. Make time for Mademoiselle Plume cafe a block away, which I reviewed separately. When we return to Paris, we won't stay anywhere else.
