Appt Design and Modern Near Bastille

I was worried after reading the Google reviews, but the stay turned out much better than I'd expected. The landlord was very nice and quick to help whenever I needed something. They also store luggage, which was really handy. There's a bus right outside, and Bastille Square is close by, so getting around was easy. Even coming back at midnight was no problem. Check-in is available 24 hours, with someone on duty. I felt lucky to find this hotel while traveling!

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Baudin in Paris for three nights. Around 10pm on the second night, we spotted a bed bug on the pillow, then found 5-6 more in a corner of the bed. We told the front desk and they moved us upstairs to another room. We left our luggage in the first room, and fortunately they washed and dried everything they could in one day. They couldn't wash a suit, a formal dress, or the luggage itself. We didn't see any more bugs, and when we asked at checkout, they refunded one night's accommodation. Five days into my holiday, the bites started appearing. I've got about 20 large, incredibly itchy welts, and they've woken me during the night. A refund of only 33% doesn't feel worth it. I'm hoping we didn't bring any bed bugs with us.

The entrance was terribly dirty and poorly maintained, and the room didn't look like the pictures. It was old, worn, and dirty, including the terrace, room, and bathroom. The cleaning was poor and everything looked worn out. It was cold because the heating didn't work, even when we tried to turn it on. The woman at the front desk was standing in a thick coat and looked frozen too. We definitely wouldn't stay again.

The balcony view was lovely, and the bathroom had been newly renovated. The building is old and doesn't have much ventilation. We arrived during the heat wave in the last week of May, but the balcony doors blocked the street noise really well. The bed and breakfast were great too, with filling portions of bread and coffee or tea. The location made it easy to find food just around the corner and walk to attractions and sites around France, especially the hop-on, hop-off buses. The staff were wonderful, and the woman at the desk was always nice and spoke English fluently, which helped since my French isn't very good.
