Avalon Cosy Hotel Paris Gare du Nord

For a solo traveller or a couple with light luggage, this was a good stay. My room had a nice patio, a good-sized shower, a clean bed and the toiletries I needed, but it was very small. I was travelling alone with just a carry-on and still felt cramped. The manager, front door staff and everyone else I met were really nice and helpful. I appreciated the free coffee in the lobby. I booked less than a week before travelling, so there weren’t many options under €200 a night. The hotel is close to the train station, though the area isn’t great at night. For anything other than a business trip, I’d stay somewhere else.

The shower was great, hot and powerful, though I wasn’t keen on the window looking through to the toilet. Breakfast was very poor, with little choice because they don’t have much space, so I’d plan to eat elsewhere. The hotel’s in a handy spot for transport, with some lovely cafés and bars nearby. My room was cosy, but there was no real floor space or storage, and you had to climb over your bags to get into bed. My two-night stay was okay, but I wouldn’t want to stay much longer and I’m afraid I wouldn’t return.

The balcony view was breathtaking, and it was such a peaceful place to sit with morning coffee or unwind in the evening. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. Avalon Cosy Hotel is adorable, clean, well-kept and full of charm.

There’s a small lift for three people and a spiral staircase. The place is close enough to take an Uber to the attractions. The bed is comfortable, there’s air-conditioning and the shower is good. I’m not keen on the bathroom/toilet windows, but the cute balcony you can sit on makes up for it.
