The situation on the terrace had already left me feeling singled out. I was smoking where other people were, and a staff member spoke to me in a passive-aggressive way, said I couldn't smoke there, then stood over me while I finished. It felt like he was picking on me for no reason. Later, at about 1 AM, I stepped outside by the door to smoke. I wasn't leaving the building, but he followed me and demanded my key in a way that felt unnecessary, almost as if he wanted to catch me doing something wrong. He could see I was tired and alone, yet made a simple cigarette break stressful. Staff shouldn't speak to guests like that, especially a woman on her own late at night. I should have felt safe where I was sleeping, not watched or followed. The whole thing made me uncomfortable and left a terrible impression, ruining my sense of comfort during the stay.
