Bastille Villa

The location made it easy to get around, with the metro and bus stop across the road, and the Seine close by for a stroll. Pubs and restaurants are all around, too, so it felt like good value for the money. We arrived very late, but a receptionist was there, checked us in quickly, and explained breakfast. There were three of us in the room. It was comfortable, with a large window and a balcony door. Even though it faced the main road, we couldn't hear the traffic with the windows shut. The single beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a tub with a shower screen, plenty of towels, and no trouble with hot water. Breakfast was served in a cosy room, though there aren't many tables, so you may want to go early. There was a good selection of bread, cereal, pastries, savoury food, tea, coffee, yoghurt, pancakes, and a machine for fresh orange juice. I thought it was worth the price.

Bastille metro station is only a couple of minutes away, so it was easy to get around Paris. There are plenty of cafés, bars, and restaurants nearby, too. We booked the hotel together with our Eurostar train. On arrival, a friendly woman checked us in without any fuss, and it took about five minutes. The room was clean, modern, and roomy enough for two. I just wish there had been a bit more wardrobe space.

The area is lovely and the location is great. The staff were very friendly, and I appreciated being able to leave our luggage and rent an umbrella. Breakfast was good, especially the fresh orange juice and yoghurt, though the breakfast room is small. The room itself was a good size, but the shower let water onto the floor. The kettle was rusty inside and smelled of vinegar. Soundproofing wasn't good, and we could hear people in the hallway. There was some refurbishment happening while we were there. It would be nice if they provided drinking water in the room or lobby.

The room was clean and worked well for the three of us, and breakfast was enough to get the day started. Getting around was easy, with both the metro and buses a short walk away.
