Beauquartier - Marais Pastourelle

The first night, there weren't any sheets for the pullout couch where my son was meant to sleep. Management said they'd come by in the morning, so he spent the night curled up and shivering. The second morning, there was no hot water in the bathroom. On our third night we found a mouse in the apartment. I called the receptionist five times over two and a half hours, and each time she said management would call in a few minutes. They got back to me after two hours, apologized at length, but said nothing could be done until morning. I moved to another hotel.

The Marais location was great, and the apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Still, the access problems and lack of timely help mean I wouldn't choose to stay here again, which is a shame because I could have become a regular. Twice my code wouldn't let me into the building. The first time was at 10 p.m., after a long flight from Australia. On checkout day, I also couldn't get into the luggage room, so I had to head to the airport much earlier than planned with nowhere secure to leave my bags. I messaged on WhatsApp and waited two hours for a reply. Each time I was locked out, calls to the number they provided went unanswered. The quickest message response took ten minutes. Being alone on the street at night with my suitcases, unsure if anyone would respond, really shook my confidence in their system and customer service. When I told them on WhatsApp how disappointing the experience had been, they offered 10% off my bill. I'd already paid in full when I booked, so the offer was empty.

The room was lovely and checking in was easy. I loved the wine bar Le Pinardier, and there are plenty of good places for coffee and breakfast nearby. It was a great base for a couple of days in Paris. Saturday night was a little noisy because there's a bar down on the corner, but otherwise it was a great stay.

Everything you need, with amazing hospitality and a great location.
