Hotel Beauséjour

We spent three nights here. The front desk staff were all helpful and nice, and while the rooms are small as the site and other reviews say, they worked for us. The towels were old and not great. Our main issue was that housekeeping cleaned the room even though we'd put the card on the door asking them not to. We'd unpacked to suit ourselves in the small space, and didn't want anyone else in there. The front desk apologized and said they'd followed up with the agency they use. It worked out in the end. There are cute restaurants, a supermarket, and the metro nearby.

When we opened the window for air, the busy street made it nearly impossible to sleep. The room was unbearably hot, and although the hotel claims to have air conditioning, ours barely seemed to do anything, more like decoration than a working system. The beds were awful too, with thin, lumpy mattresses that felt like camping pads. I've slept better on airport floors. When we raised these problems with management, they were arrogant and condescending, rolling their eyes and showing no willingness to help. The whole exchange felt passive aggressive and indifferent, the sort of experience that feeds every frustrating cliché about the French.

I had questions about my stay and the front desk woman berated me several times just for asking. She first offered a refund, but when I asked whether I could make a call, she said there would be no refund now because I wanted to waste time. I tried to stay here, but the desk staff were rude for no reason. Avoid this place. About their reply: none of that is true. I never brought a second guest or asked to accommodate one. I had paid, then the woman said, “no guests allowed.” I asked why, wondering if something had happened earlier. She didn't take the question well and seemed to use it as a chance to vent the day's frustrations at me. Don't lie about me.

I had a wonderful stay at Beauséjour hotel. The staff were kind and friendly, and the location is ideal, close to several metro stations. I'd definitely recommend it.
