What makes a stay at the Welcoming Dragon such a treat is how much Philip thinks of the little things. He’s a wonderful host, and everything is impeccable. The room and PRIVATE bathroom are so clean they match or even outdo top-ranked hotels. International guests will appreciate his kindness and the fact that he speaks several languages, I’m guessing more than seven. He’s even supplied adapters for all kinds of international plugs, and Japanese travelers can feel at home when he greets them in their own language after spending over 10 years in Japan. The room is very quiet, the WiFi is excellent, and the neighborhood is pleasant, with lots of Asian food nearby in the heart of Parisian Chinatown. Tolbiac on metro line 7 is close, so it’s quick to get into central Paris. For what you pay, the quality is like a top Paris hotel at less than half the price, and breakfast is served to your daily wishes. I could keep listing reasons to stay here.

We had our own keys, so coming and going was easy, and Philip was always willing to help. He showed us around the neighborhood, and we felt almost like locals. The room was quiet and clean, with nice furnishings, an attached bathroom, reading lights on the headboard, and a study desk. He even decorated the bed in the colours of the French flag. Breakfast was generous, with good coffee and Philip's homemade pear jam. He asked what time we wanted to eat and whether we preferred baguettes or croissants. It was also a nice time to chat with him about languages and cultures, since he speaks several languages and has lived in different countries. The apartment is in the Asian quarters, near Tolbiac and Olympiades metro stations. There’s a lift in the building, though you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach it. Philip was a gracious, helpful host who sent clear directions before we left, making the place easy to find. Even though he was busy, he went out of his way to get a bottle of champagne for our 25th anniversary in Paris.

We stayed nearly two weeks and really enjoyed it. The owner makes you feel welcome, almost like part of the family, and gave me plenty of sightseeing tips for Paris. Breakfast was great, and the guest bathroom is separate, which gives you some privacy. There’s free WiFi, too. It’s close to two metro lines, with lots of nearby places to eat cheaply. I found the B&B nicer than a hotel and better value. I’d recommend it whether you’re visiting Paris for a few days or a few weeks.

This B&B felt cozy, almost like home, with a separate living room and bedroom. Our family had a wonderful time in Paris thanks to Philip's kind help and care, and both our children liked him a lot. Meals were easy, with tasty breakfast breads, French baguette, coffee, and tea, plus yummy restaurants and an Asian market nearby. Tolbiac on line 7 and Olympiades on line 14 are both very close, so getting to downtown Paris was easy. If we get another chance to visit, our family will choose this place again without hesitation.

Philip is a friendly, helpful host who does everything he can to make the stay enjoyable. The fresh French bread at breakfast was delicious, and you can choose from croissant, pain complet, and other options. His tour of the nearby market was a highlight, especially the performance by M. Poulet! Il est très bon.
