Bellevue Paris Montmartre Hotel

We had a restful night’s sleep each evening, and the staff were good. The room was warm and clean, though small, which seemed fair for the price; the location more than made up for it. Each morning there was a basic continental breakfast with cereal, eggs, meat, cheese, and croissants. From the hotel it’s only a few minutes’ walk to Sacre Coeur and the artist square. Heading downhill along the pretty cobbled streets and colorful houses toward the Moulin Rouge, you pass Dalida’s famous bust and Van Goghs former house. The views were amazing, and it felt like a dream spot for tourists. We felt safe wandering around and enjoyed the unusual shops. It could use plug points near the kettle. We enjoyed our five-day break and will definitely consider Bellevue when we visit Paris again.

The luggage area felt completely unsecured. On checkout day, while our suitcases were there for us to collect before heading to the airport, the receptionist let three strangers into the hotel to use the bathroom. They stood right in front of our bags. Can anyone just walk in? We picked up our suitcases and left, and nobody even checked whether they were ours. At checkout, reception asked if everything was okay; when we said it was average, he just smiled. During the stay, our towels weren’t replaced even when we put them on the floor because they were dirty. We ran out of toilet paper and got no more, and I found my cosmetics tossed on the floor, which felt spiteful because we’d left the towels down. We had to ask reception at night for towels, and one they gave us was dirty. This was absolutely not trustworthy.

Paris is wonderful to visit, and we didn’t spend much time in the room, but when we were there we wanted to feel safe and comfortable. That wasn’t the case. The staff weren’t welcoming, and the neighborhood didn’t feel good. It took 15-20 minutes to reach the sights. The bed sagged badly in the middle. The bathroom was so cramped I could barely turn around, and I’m not a big person. Getting into the really small shower meant stepping up, and getting out felt dangerous. There was no bath mat or towel provided.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on our stay. The online listing gave a misleading impression, and the breakfast we’d paid for in advance, £65 for four days, was poor quality and not worth it. I would have rather eaten outside. The room was much smaller than the photos suggested, with barely enough room for our luggage. The bathroom was tiny too, and in the shower there was only space to stand in one position. I’d booked a double bedroom, but this wasn’t what I expected. I asked reception why we’d been put in such a small room; the receptionist had no answer. After some arguing, they eventually moved us to a better room.
