Hotel Berkeley

For a budget trip, this hotel does the job. The room had the basics and showed some age and wear, but that didn’t affect our stay. The lift is small and doesn’t hold much, and from the sixth floor you have to walk up the final flight. We had a tiny street-facing window, while the balcony looked into the back of the hotel building. The location was amazing: metro and bus connections were about a three-minute walk away, and behind the hotel were lots of nice restaurants and a shopping mall with a MonoPrix supermarket downstairs. Gare Du Nord was 20 minutes away by metro. Public transport fares were great, €2 for the bus and €2.50 for the metro, and the trips covered a lot of ground. Staff were friendly. I’d recommend it for the well-placed location.

It’s a good fit for what it is, with a convenient spot just steps from Montparnasse station. The rooms could use updating.

There are two metro stations within walking distance, with good connections to the sights, and the staff and service were friendly. The rooms aren’t very spacious, but the size feels okay for the price. There’s only one elevator and it’s very small. I’d skip the hotel breakfast: the selection is limited, and there are some really nice cafes a short walk away.

For the price, it’s a good hotel, with free WiFi and an elevator. The view was nice and it was quiet, but breakfast could be much better. Everyone was helpful, though they could have been a little more proactive. There’s no private parking at the hotel.
