The reception staff were really nice and accommodating. The hotel is well placed for walking to Lafayette, Opera, the Louvre, or Monmartre. It's a lively neighborhood full of bars, restaurants, and pubs, but the street itself is quiet. The rooms and bathrooms are very small, though everything feels crowded in Paris. Good value for the price, and I'd recommend it for a city break or short stay.

We found a Kinder Egg on the floor, and the room hadn't been cleaned properly. There was also an older man who was very rude, shouting at us and showing no patience. They had board games but wouldn't let us play. A really bad hotel, and I wouldn't recommend it to tourists.

Tulane at the front desk was pleasant and kind, and did try to help. My experience with Zenaida was the opposite. I was tired after not sleeping at all, and had calmly asked about the reservation because I'm a big guy and need a double bed. She kept cutting me off, and I felt upset by her behavior. I asked her to stop raising her voice and to give me a chance to consider paying extra for an upgrade. I could afford it, but she didn't offer options or show me to a room. I was trying to de-escalate things, yet the hotel later described me as insistent. I don't think that's fair, and their response lacked clarity. I was on a birthday trip, and it's a shame to have to write this. I work in customer service and tourism too, so I know people get stressed, but there's no need to speak to guests that way. I had seen similar reviews and assumed Americans might be overreacting or not used to Europeans. I've lived here a long time and am used to Europeans, so that wasn't my experience. I could have paid more for a room, but after the way I was treated I chose to get another night's sleep and write a bad review. I also felt the hotel was putting responsibility on guests for advertisements it had placed on other websites. That's inappropriate. I stand by what I said. I hope Zenaida finds some love in her heart, because I saw none. Merry Christmas, and thanks for spoiling my birthday.

The room was unusually spacious for Paris and the price, and the reverse-cycle air conditioning worked well. The location was easy to get around from, with attractions within walking distance. But we were on the ground floor beside the toilets and a bar, so nights were noisy. The shower seal wasn't right, and water leaked onto the floor every time. There wasn't much cupboard space despite the room's size. The receptionist wasn't very friendly, though I work in customer service, and reception wasn't staffed around the clock. I'd call it a 2-star hotel. Fine for a basic, cheap stay, but I wouldn't recommend it to friends I like.

I booked another stay because I had enjoyed this hotel five years earlier. This time, though, I accidentally reserved four nights in August when I meant to book September. I contacted the hotel as soon as I noticed and also asked my Expedia travel agent to speak to them. I asked to move the booking a month later, or at least get some partial credit or a discount. I would have understood paying for two nights out of the four. Instead, the staff member I spoke to on the phone was rude and unprofessional. One said they didn't care about a bad reputation and that, with no guests in August, they “needed money now.” My nearly $800 room is now sitting empty, and they seem to think I'd ever return. That experience made it feel like the people running this hotel care more about squeezing money out of customers than keeping guests happy. It's made their priorities clear: profit before people. I won't be back.
