Hotel Crayon

The key access made me feel safer as a woman travelling alone, and I liked the large windows because staff could see who was passing when someone was at the desk. Sometimes the desk was empty, but that was fine with the key entry. I chose a small room for six nights by myself last week. It was clean and modern, and the price felt fair, even cheap, for such a good location. Paris rooms are small, and with my suitcase open there was hardly room to move, but I didn't mind. The elevator mattered because I had a huge, 50 lb suitcase, and it fit both of us. The firm mattress was comfortable, and the bedding and towels were nice. Toiletries were provided, including l'Occitane en Provence. I slept well, and liked coming back to the air-conditioned room after a full day outside. It was surprisingly quiet at night. I heard a baby crying in another room once, so the walls might not be very thick, but I just switched on my noise-cancelling machine. Breakfast had a generous, nicely presented mix of sweet and savoury items, though picking something up at a local bakery would be much cheaper. I’ve already recommended the hotel to friends and family, and would stay again.

The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was good, though the rooms are a little small. Staff were really friendly, and breakfast was a good buffet. It's a lovely boutique hotel in a very central spot, and I'd recommend it for a short Paris break.

The staff were warm and professional, and the rooms were clean. Ours was small, but still good value, and we loved being able to open the window and look out onto the street. The Louvre is a short walk away, with public transport and restaurants nearby. A unique stay!

The location is excellent, and the bed was comfortable. The room looked clean, with very clean bedding, and the staff were polite when I spoke with them. Still, the bathroom mold is a deal breaker for me. The room smelled terrible, and given the hotel’s responses to other reviews, I didn't bother asking for a refund or raising it with them. You couldn't miss the smell, so it seems clear they know there's a problem. They deny that there's mold. I’d also read about the couple who got foot fungus. And the coffee charge was a huge turnoff: I paid €1.50 for one cup of Nespresso, although other reviews mention a free coffee machine. That matters to me, especially after paying $775 US for three nights. I expected the room to be small because it’s Paris, but I didn't expect the moldy bathroom.
