Hôtel Des Arènes

The room was so small there was barely enough space to do a push-up, and I could hear someone snoring in the next room. I’d probably return, but I’d definitely ask for a bigger, quieter room if one was available. The hotel itself was very clean and perfectly located. Service was good, the gentleman at reception was very friendly, and breakfast was nice.

A clean, lovely hotel with a spacious room and a kind receptionist. The location was good too, near the metro.

The staff were fantastic, especially Jacob, who let us choose a room when we checked in. My only complaint was the cramped bathroom layout: the shower stall was small, and the toilet was squeezed between it and a wall. At six feet tall, I found it challenging, but made it work. I’d stay again.

The location is really good, with places nearby and the metro close by. The room was small, which was fine for my one-night stay. It was clean, too, but there were still things left in the fridge by the previous guests. I mentioned it discreetly at the front desk. They removed the items straight away, but nobody apologized. For the roughly €115 I paid for one night, I expected a small apology, coffee, or some other gesture. The hotel is very old and run down, with old carpet everywhere, a very old bathroom, and an old bed with an uncomfortable mattress. The blanket and pillows smelled a bit, and in general the hotel had a musty smell. You can hear everything your neighbours do, plus every drop of water in the pipes. A proper blanket or a decent mattress seems like it should be a doable investment. The bathroom had a strange setup, a tiny tub with uneven surfaces and a shower without a curtain. Fine for one shower, but annoying for more than a day.
