Hôtel des Trois Gares

We left the room a bit late and they didn't charge us. Everyone was extremely nice to us, and everything was clean. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but it was OK.

The staff were the best part, very friendly and helpful, and they speak English really well, which is great if you know little or no French like me. The location is fantastic if you arrive late at GDL station. Breakfast is decent. The hotel is a bit pokey and run down, and the lift is VERY small and quirky, it will only fit one person with a bag at a push. My room wasn't the best, with stains on the carpet, but the bed was very clean and comfortable, and I slept well. I peeked into another room while it was being cleaned, and it looked much nicer than mine. I've stayed in better hotels in big cities, but also much worse ones. If you just need to get your head down for a night, it does the job.

I was glad to find this place at the last minute, and the price was reasonable. The receptionist was very welcoming. The room was large, with air conditioning, a comfortable bed, and a spacious bathroom. The toilet was en-suite too, but in another area of the room, a bit far from the bathroom. Fantastic location.

The location, among 3 train stations, was great, especially since we were transiting through Paris. If you're staying longer, you may want to be closer to the sights. The rooms were modest in size, and at 6ft I felt like the hulk in the shower, which I found quaint. Staff were accommodating, got our room ready for check-in quickly, and were happy to help with directions.
