The lake view in front of the hotel is charming, and the place itself is beautiful, with a strong Mickey and Minnie cartoon feel. Disney characters also turn up randomly in the afternoon for photos, which is exciting for children and families. Getting to the parks takes longer than you might expect. The shuttle runs at long intervals, and the ride itself takes a while, so the hotel doesn’t feel truly close to the parks. Our room also lacked a refrigerator, drinks or even water, slippers, toothbrushes and other things I’d expect at a luxury hotel. We could hear noise clearly through the locked connecting door to the next room, since the rooms were set up to connect. The hotel is good quality overall, but that was a downside.

The lake view from our room was lovely, and the bed was comfortable. Dinner at the buffet was extremely well done, everything delicious, and not to be missed. The porridge with comb honey was surprisingly good too. The standard lobby felt like a railway station, with long lines for check-in, checkout and breakfast, crowds around the buffet, and no seats. People were sitting on the floor beside open suitcases. The club rate was worth it: reception was in a separate room where we could sit, someone escorted us to our room, and the separate restaurant had no queue and was much less crowded, though the food was the same. Breakfast had its problems. The scrambled eggs were inedible, the hard-boiled eggs impossible to peel, and the cafe au lait had no taste. The shower was a hassle because you had to climb into the bathtub, and adjusting the temperature between too hot and too cold was difficult. The air conditioning was loud, but stopped when we opened the windows.
The hotel feels dated, and I wouldn’t return. There aren’t many facilities for people travelling with small children, at least not compared with other hotels we’ve stayed in. Check-in gets very busy and could use more staff. Staff were a mixed bag, some friendly and helpful, others not. We asked for milk for tea, but it never came, so if you like milk in your tea or coffee, you may want to bring UHT. There’s no fridge in the room, and water is only provided on arrival. We had to set up the baby cot ourselves; it came with just a thin sheet and no blanket, and the sheet wasn’t fixed on during service either. Breakfast was okay, though some more toddler-friendly options would have helped. Breakfast ends at 11, but the bar doesn’t open until 1, so we had to go back into the village for coffee while waiting for our transfer pickup. The location for the parks is great.
The room had a beautiful lakeside view, and the hotel was clean with a really lovely Mickey theme. Our boys loved seeing the characters at reception, and they had a great time in the swimming pool despite how cold it was. Some staff were amazing, especially the man who noticed us struggling with the luggage and took it to our room. Getting to our room, though, felt like a trek through endless narrow corridors. It was miles away. When cleaning trolleys were out, passing was impossible, though the staff tried to manoeuvre them. With our buggy, we needed two lifts. The first lift, from reception to the parks, only just fit our double buggy. After the fireworks the wait was forever, and it was the same in the morning when everyone was heading to the park. For a family hotel where most guests have buggies, that’s disappointing. With tired children, you don’t want a queue just to reach your room. There are good things about the hotel, but we stayed at the Marvel hotel last time and I’d choose that over Newport.
The fireworks were visible from our room, which was awesome. The hotel was clean and staff were generally friendly, though some weren’t. We stayed from the 25th till the 29th January 2026. Check-in was okay, and our room was ready after 3pm. We were on the 3rd floor, just one floor above the lobby, which was lucky because the hotel is huge. We had a standard room, not compass, so it wasn’t cleaned every day. That didn’t bother me much, but I would’ve booked the compass club if I’d known. The room was nicely decorated and had a hairdryer, safe, working coffee machine and a huge TV that let us log into Disney plus. The bed was a small double, so book the compass club if you want a bigger one. Shampoo, conditioner and soap were included, but not enough for a family, so I’d bring your own. The lobby character meets are great, make sure to take advantage. Breakfast wasn’t the best, though the mickey waffles and pancakes were okay. The swimming pool was nice, with clean towels provided.
