Hotel District République

The price and location were great, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but the room itself was a poor experience. I was in room 001 on the ground floor just beyond reception. Every tap, switch, and kitchen noise came through as if it were happening in my room. An iPhone alarm went off around 6am and woke me. I also heard knocking that seemed to be at my door, so I got up to check. Ventilation was poor, and after a shower the room stayed humid for a long time. The fan/heater rattled loudly and constantly, stopping only when switched off. It wasn't a soft hum, and made it hard to sleep. I'd only recommend staying here if a good location and decent price are your main priorities.

Friendly, welcoming front desk staff, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The location made it easy to get around by public transport. I’d happily stay again on my next trip to Paris.

The price was important to us, and District République gave us good value. It’s an easy walk to Gare Du Nord, convenient for the airport or Eurostar. There are good restaurants, bars, and bakeries in this lively area. Weekends might be a little noisy outside, though weekdays were quiet. My wife and I slept well either way. Our room was small, but clean, with fresh towels, a firm bed, and firm pillows. Staff were polite, kind, and helpful, with someone at the front desk 24/7. The hotel cleaned the room daily. My compliments to the staff for making our stay safe, clean, and comfortable. No complaints, and I’d return.

I booked a single room for three nights with free cancellation up to two days before arrival. A few hours before I was due to leave for Paris, my flight was canceled because Israeli airspace had closed. I hoped the cancellation fee could be waived because this was a force majeure situation. I emailed the hotel first thing in the morning, a day and a half before check-in, and got only a bot response saying my case didn't qualify under the cancellation policy. I understand they aren't required to waive the fee. I'm writing this from a bomb shelter, where I've already spent several hours, wishing I were in Paris.
