Hôtel de l'Exposition Tour Eiffel

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Eva at reception. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It’s a 5-minute walk to the metro and about 10 to 15 minutes on foot to the Eifel tower. The room loses a star for three things: it’s very small, and the bathroom is separated from it only by opaque glass; the queen bed is actually 140x200, which doesn’t leave two people much space, even though the mattress is comfortable; and at first there was no pin or kettle in the room. There was a pin in the bathroom, and you can ask reception to bring both items.

The bathrooms are clean and modern, though the room decor feels dark and dated. The location works really well for visiting the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. Prices seem reasonable for Paris, and you get what you pay for. I’d skip breakfast and go to a nearby bakery.

This place felt like it was after tourists’ money. We asked to cancel, and the third-party booking site tried calling and emailing but got no reply, or was told to call back in the morning. By the time we finally heard back, the no-cancel period had passed, and the answer was, “manager says no.” There was no coffee-making setup, and we were given water just once during our stay. We paid £400 for three nights. The first night, the toilet cistern made a constant noise all night. It stopped on the second day, but there was still the sound of dripping water, if you like that sort of thing. Breakfast cost 13.50 per person and was just cereal, pastries, one cheese, and one meat. A supermarket two minutes away sells the same for a quarter of the price. The booking had added an extra £35 for taxes online. At checkout, the receptionist insisted that couldn’t be right because taxes couldn’t be paid online, and said we had to pay again or be reported to the Government. I showed the third-party booking confirmation saying I’d paid the taxes, but she still insisted. I called the booking site right away, and they confirmed I shouldn’t have been charged again. Terrible place.

We stayed five nights and got no customer service at all. We’d booked two twin beds and asked to change rooms, but the receptionist kept saying every day that the hotel was completely booked and there were no rooms available. She didn’t even check. She was rude and not helpful.
