Hotel Fertel Maillot

The location was really convenient, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I stayed at the Fertel Maillot Hotel recently and found the rooms quite good. Breakfast was a letdown, though. The food was okay, but the room felt cramped, almost like a little cabin, so the atmosphere could use some improvement.

For Paris, the room was large, clean, and had a comfortable bed and pillow. It’s a basic hotel, and the rooms look like they haven’t had much care since the 90s, so they need refurbishing. I’ve been to Paris nine times and stayed in nine different hotels, and the price here is close to what you pay for more luxurious rooms. We don’t come to Paris to sit in the room, though, and I’d recommend it to budget travelers. I’d stay again if it cost half as much as other hotels nearby. We left the windows open instead of using the air conditioning, and the street noise could be bothersome. There are double windows if you prefer using the air con.

We only stayed one night, and the complimentary Wi-Fi was fast, though it needs a password. Breakfast wasn’t mentioned at check-in. There’s no parking on site, as with many Paris hotels. A self-service laundry with 12 washers and 6 dryers is 500 m away, open until 10 PM. Washing costs €6.50 per use and drying €1.50 per 10 minutes. Room 34, on the third floor, felt spacious with two single beds and was relatively clean apart from the filthy, stained carpet. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were flat and unsupportive. There’s a safe, bar fridge, chair, desk, ottoman, bedside tables, hanging space, and thin towels that do the job. The air conditioning has limited controls, and although we set it to 19, the room never felt that cool. Two double-paned windows open onto a Juliet balcony. The bathroom looks very dated, with painted tiles and a 1970s-style “elephant” hairdryer. Only basic toiletries are provided, and the toilet paper is placed so far from the toilet that you have to reach for it. There’s no tea or coffee setup or bottled water, which seems scant for the premium room price. I’m not sure what makes it a 3-star hotel, since there’s nothing special about the room. Our check-in man was pleasant and got us sorted quickly. It’s fine for a night if all you expect is a place to sleep. Nearby are restaurants, cinemas, and Gare Neuilly Port Malliot, with the tram, RER-E, and Metro line 1. If you arrive by car, GPS is probably best. From the train, Metro, or tram, head toward the Cinema complex and McDonalds, and you’ll see the hotel sign.

The metro and bus station are just steps away, and the hotel is well located for a good price. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the reception staff when I arrived at night after the train from Nantes, they gave me a large bottle of mineral water for free. There was a sudden power disconnection one day, but it was fixed within minutes. I enjoyed my stay.
