France Louvre Hotel

The location was great and easy to get around from, but I was so let down by the room. I'd booked through hotels.com while travelling alone around a few European cities, and this was easily the worst room I've stayed in. I'm not especially picky and usually choose budget-conscious 3- or 4-star hotels, so I wasn't expecting an Eiffel Tower view. I just wanted a decent bed and a clean bathroom. Instead, there was visible mold in the common areas and in the room, along with a horrible smell. The bathroom was awful and the shower was barely usable. The bedding had mascara and other unidentified stains and didn't look properly clean. I was on the top floor, where the ceiling had an obvious water stain, almost certainly from a roof leak. I asked to switch rooms, but was told they were fully booked, which I found hard to believe. The room looked nothing like the pictures online. I just hope I didn't bring bed bugs home. Seriously, don't stay here.

We paid €242 a night in October, so I expected a more modern room with better sound insulation. The room was clean, but it was clearly old and hadn't been renovated. Sounds from the hallway came through, including people walking and flushing toilets, and that made the stay less comfortable.

The staff were fantastic every time. The room itself is basic, in a very old building, and only really works if you get it at a good price. I wouldn't want to spend much time hanging out there anyway. The AC doesn't work, and it seems like it may have been broken for a long time. There's an elevator, but it's tiny, enough for one or two people, or one person with a suitcase. There are also steps at the entrance, so it definitely isn't wheelchair accessible.

I came in expecting nothing after reading the reviews, so I was completely satisfied. It's a tiny private room and bathroom, but clean and well located. That's what you get, no more and no less.
