Hôtel George Sand Opéra Paris

We loved the chaussons aux pommes they served here, and our room was very clean and nicely decorated. Laeticia at reception gave us such a warm welcome, and the service was great. This was the best hotel we’ve stayed at in Paris.

The location was fantastic, the staff lovely, and the cleaning was good. But the room and hotel felt very dated, so the photos gave us the wrong impression. It was hot at night with no way for us to adjust it, and we all slept badly. The main bed’s mattress was too soft, and €1000 for three nights felt poor value. We also had to pass through the smaller bedroom where our child was sleeping to reach the bathroom, which was impractical and wasn’t clear from the description or photos.

Months after I booked through booking.com, the hotel unexpectedly canceled my reservation, saying they couldn’t validate my credit card. My card company said there had been no attempt to charge or check it. The hotel blamed booking.com, and booking.com blamed the hotel. Neither could restore my reservation or its great rate. Very disappointing.

Sabrina and everyone at Hôtel George Sand made us feel welcome, and the service was professional and helpful. Sabrina went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The rooms were clean, well stocked, and comfortable, and breakfast was good. It was quiet at night, and the location felt safe for a woman walking alone day or night, close to shops, museums, Opera Metro, and RER stations.
