Grand Hôtel du Havre

I needed somewhere at the last minute when every other nearby hotel was booked, so this place came through for me. The price was higher than it would have been if I'd booked ahead. It's a basic, dated hotel with no air conditioning, and it wasn't the cleanest or quietest. It feels more like a one-star place to me, and doesn't deserve a three-star rating.

The rooms had lots of mosquitoes, and one night we couldn't sleep at all. The hotel is quite old, and the rooms are small. In one room the toilet cistern didn't work, while the elevator was out of order most of the time. We wouldn't return here on our next trip to Paris.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. Our room was small, with dirty rugs, old furniture, and outdated bathroom amenities. It was full of mosquitoes, and the air conditioning didn't work anywhere in the hotel, or they simply don't turn it on. The booking gave no indication that there was no AC. Breakfast was pitiful, and the place really isn't worth the money.

On our last night, a strange noise woke us in the middle of the night. We turned on the lights and saw a mouse that had come from the bathroom. We were frightened and focused on keeping away from it, so we didn't take a photo. We contacted reception right away for help. The hotel is badly outdated, and the hygiene was appalling. Having this happen made us feel our health was at risk and completely ruined the stay. To me, it points to poor maintenance and cleanliness. It was a disaster. I wouldn't return or recommend it to anyone.
