Hotel Agenor

I booked at the last minute because my flight was delayed. As soon as I entered the room, the smell was awful, like mold and possibly bad plumbing. We checked another room and found the same problem. The receptionist was rude, wouldn't show me the cancellation policy or help with a refund, and argued that the negative reviews online were wrong. Avoid this place.

O'Bella Ciao was our favorite nearby restaurant, and the catacombs were an easy short walk away. The neighborhood had enough restaurants and public transport to be convenient, but we didn't feel surrounded by crowds or pickpockets, and accommodation didn't seem overpriced. Our room was clean, had everything we needed, and it was a relief to have air conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had an excellent stay and hope to return in 2026 on our next trip.

The only thing that didn't work for me was the bed. I could have used a better pillow. The rooms were very clean and perfectly adequate, breakfast was good, and the staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful. It's also in a great spot for Montparnasse, with restaurants and shops nearby.

I'll be back in Paris in a few months, but I won't stay here again. I spent thousands of dollars for a five-day Olympics stay, booking through a hotel website on purpose so I could earn rewards. On check-in, they reprimanded us for not booking directly. Then, on the second day, they canceled the rewards booking and rebooked us directly. I only found out when I got home and checked my balance, expecting hundreds of points and seeing none. The rewards company and I called three times to get them to confirm I had stayed, but nobody there would speak English, even though they had been bilingual during my visit. It seems they didn't want to honor the agreement, and I feel the least they could have done after such an expensive stay was leave my rewards booking intact instead of avoiding their obligations with the vendor. The customer service was terrible.
